Technical Writer

Coordinate all technical documentation initiatives involving APTUS's hardware and software including installation manuals, technical training materials, troubleshooting guides and methods/procedures. Create documentation standards and documentation templates for use by product management and engineering. Coordinate and work with developers, engineers, and product development team to ensure the successful definition, delivery and maintenance within the defined business areas. Research, recommend, and manage documentation management software. Exceptional written and verbal skills. Bachelor's degree with 3 years work experience in writing technical and business documents. Experience creating and working with documentation and diagram standards. Ability to translate verbal discussions and whiteboard diagrams into formal documentation. Applicant must possess sufficient knowledge to understand and translate these concepts into formal documents and diagrams. Strong technical writing abilities, proofreading skills and attention to detail. Must be able to interdependently gather information from a variety of sources. Excellent time management skills and the ability to move quickly among multiple projects. Excellent analytical, creative, communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred: Knowledge of Linux, Asterisk, Open Source, LAN protocol, Telephony solutions. Ability and willingness to work extra hours during crunch periods. 

Technical Writer

• Learn products well and translate technical details of products into simple, easy to understand product literature for delivery to customers.
• Prepare copy-drafts (text) for brochures, user manuals and press/product releases.
• Design and create product literature, edit, layout, insert copy and standardize literature according to company’s corporate image.
• Prepare rough drafts for review by staff or distributors before closing out the literature
production process by sending it for print.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business preferred.

• Proficiency in desktop publishing tools, in particular Adobe InDesign
