Assistant Librarian

Position Overview : The incumbent will report to the University Librarian, and will assist in planning and organizing the workflow of library services and operations. He/She should be knowledgeable and experienced in all aspects of library work including cataloging, classification and the processing of books and non-book materials. In addition, the incumbent will coordinate the automation of the library system including the use of Online Public Access Catalog as well as organizing the serials, special and archives collections. He/She will supervise the work of the library staff and prepare reports, memoranda, and statistics for the management. The incumbent will also assist in the budget preparation, collection development and evaluation of the library collection and services.

Qualifications and Requirements :
Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science Postgraduate Diploma preferred or equivalent certificate from an IFLA accredited academic institutions.
Minimum 5 years experience in library technical services and organization of library collection in an academic setting, of which 3 years should be in a supervisory level.
Excellent PC skills.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Experience in working with people from different ethnic backgrounds
Fluency in spoken and written English is a must. Knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
