Job Description
Role and responsibilities:
Design, define, evaluate and implement automated test suites through the team.
You’ll have a detailed knowledge of the automated testing responsibilities and processes within the Software Development Lifecycle, be responsible for reviewing, evaluating and turning high level requirements into detailed test plans, with clear scope, objectives, deliverables and risks.
Reporting status on automated test activities, opportunities, risks. Interpreting test results to provide input for releases, and ensuring completion of objectives so that the schedule is delivered to specified project timescales.
Improve efficiency of test methodology and processes throughout Engineering. Assess how effective the software testing was and determine how the testing process and coverage can be improved.
Ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner.
Ensure testing is carried out in a timely, repeatable and effective fashion.
Essential skills:
Previous experience of leading/mentoring/driving an automated test team of at least 3 people i.e. resource allocation, evaluation of test strategies, fine tuning
Demonstrable Quality Assurance experience within automated software testing, with a flexible approach with tools and techniques
Estimation, work breakdown and test coverage needs from explicit and implicit automated test requirements
Genuinely strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Investigate software defects and identify root cause
Previous experience with at least one automated testing tool (e.g. Selenium, QTP, TestComplete)
Desirable skills:
Experience of working within an Agile environment
Experience of testing Java software applications
Experience of creating and maintaining test schedules detailing the activities and tasks for multiple engineers over several months.
Test Automation development and maintenance for Web applications
Strong SQL knowledge and experience (Postgresql an advantage)
Experience of Server OS (Linux, Windows Server, Suse and Ubuntu)
Degree qualified (Engineering/Computer Science degree preferred)
